Rick Wilson, Club Director - Wild Carp Companies of North Texas
Rick Wilson has been targeting all species of freshwater fish ever since he was a child growing up in North Texas. He enjoys fishing with his father and the two would regularly seek bass and catfish, but that all changed in 2008 when Rick started free-lining bread to catch carp at a local marina and was quickly enthralled by the species.
Since then Rick has taken an active role in carp angling promotion both as a competitor and organizer, serving as a repeat attendee and organizing committee member of the annual ATC tournament in Texas, and as a Texas State chairman for the Carp Angler’s Group. During his personal time, Rick mentors his son in carp angling and often shows other young boys and girls how to fish carp as well.
Rick employs a Euro-style angling method, but every so often enjoys reliving his carp angling roots by free-lining bread back at the old marina. He fishes year-round in North Texas and enjoys long fishing sessions in the fall and winter.
Rick enjoys competing in tournaments on occasion and had success winning the 2012 Austin Team Championship along with his partner, Bubba Staton.
Rick is the Club Director for the Wild Carp Club of North Texas.
