Nick Davis, Tournament Director - Wild Carp Companies of Houston
Nick Davis grew up fishing with his dad as a kid and has been hooked on it all his life. He was raised in Ohio where he would frequently catch bass, blue gill and walleye. Nick moved to Texas after college in 2008 and took a break from fishing. In 2010, he started fishing by himself for the first time and had a preconception to catch the biggest fish in the lake with a better, stronger fight than bass.
Nick didn't know a thing about catfish—which he presumed to be the biggest fish in the lake—so he chose to go after carp. Shortly after he moved to Houston, he met up with a local carper who showed him the ropes of Euro Gear.
Nick pursued the Euro style of fishing since then and has managed to catch a variety of species of carp. Lately, he has been splitting his time with offshore kayak fishing and carping. Once the summer season ends, he gets revved back up for catching big carp and buffalo.
Nick’s go-to bait is cherry maize fished critically balanced on a blowback rig.
His goal of starting the Wild Carp Club of Houston is to continue to grow the base of carp fishermen in the Houston area by creating awareness for carp as a sport fish and to pass on what others have taught him. Nick’s personal goals include catching a koi and a 30+ lb common carp.
