FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carp and Rough Fish Angling Makes a $10,000 Splash in Lake Fork, Texas

Lake Fork Sportsman’s Association, Wild Carp Companies and USCARPPRO
magazine hosts inaugural $10,000 Lake Fork Big 4 Challenge

Thousand Oaks, Ca., October 12, 2011--USCARPPRO MAGAZINE and Wild Carp Companies today announced an agreement with Lake Fork Sportsman’s Association to host a $10,000 carp and rough fish catch and release tournament and social event early 2012. The Lake Fork Big 4 Challenge, a newly introduced “Texas 44” event, is scheduled to begin February 29 with registration and a social gathering, with education, outreach and community programs and a Pro-Am showcase slated for March 1. The prize tournament will start in the afternoon of March 1 and last until March 3. Entry fee is $400 for teams registering by Dec 31, 2011, rising to $450 for teams registering after that date.

The Wild Carp Club has recently expanded its presence into Texas, establishing a schedule of club tourneys and events that will appeal to carp and smallmouth specialists and promote the sport to new anglers. In honor of this expansion, the Lake Fork Big 4 Challenge will follow a newly-created “Texas 44” tournament challenge, with anglers competing to land the 4 largest carp and the 4 largest smallmouth buffalo over 44 continuous hours of fishing. In addition to the Big 4 prizes, awards will be given for the biggest carp, biggest mirror carp, biggest smallmouth buffalo and more. Two tagged fish are worth an additional $5000 each if caught during the event.

The tournament is the first official engagement for the newly formed partnership between USCARPPRO, North America's only online magazine dedicated to catch and release carp and rough fish angling, and Wild Carp Companies, the Baldwinsville, NY-based carp angling promoter and creator of the Wild Carp Club, that hosts educational demonstrations, offers angling lessons and promotes tourism by hosting fishing social events and organizing world-class tournaments.

“We’ve been working with Lake Fork Sportsman’s Association for several months and they’ve been enormously supportive,” said David Smith, founder and Editor-in-Chief of USCARPPROmagazine. “They’re as excited as we are to be hosting the tournament and to showcase a different aspect of the American fishing experience. Lake Fork is a well-balanced and prolific multi-species water that consistently produces trophy-sized fish. We’re expecting something a bit special from this event.”

The LFSA was founded in 1999 in an effort to protect the lake, a renowned Texas treasure, at a time when many believed the lake needed a guardian for the first time in its brief twenty-one year history. In addition to awarding scholarships, LFSA continues as an organization of dedicated sportsman whose mission is to promote the fishery and protect it when the need arises.

“Hosting a world class carp and rough fish tournament at world-famous bass venue like Lake Fork is a real coup and a fantastic opportunity to promote the sport,” said Wild Carp Companies co-founder, Sean Sauda. “Texas has consistently produced some incredible carp and smallmouth buffalo over the years and we know there are some enormous fish in Lake Fork so we’re very excited by this event.”

“Texas is a hotbed for carp and smallmouth buffalo fishing with a lot of anglers here that enjoy the sport,” Sauda continued. “In every issue of USCARPPROmagazine you see Texas anglers showing off fish that some people can only dream about so it made sense for us to expand our club presence here. The initial response from Texas anglers has been better than we imagined.”

Tournament registration and event details will be made available shortly on the Wild Carp Companies Tournaments page will be published and updated on the WCC and USCARPPRO Facebook pages.
